Happy Postcrossing!

Few months ago, my English teacher told us to do a new project, “Happy Postcrossing”.  At First, I thought that it was a boring subject because I used to repel sending a postcard to a stranger, I considered that it was a meaningless behavior. I have been maintained the negative thoughts for a long time until I started to do this project.

First, I bought a beautiful postcard which has lots of pictures of Taiwan on it. Then I pressed an icon and got a long address from a young woman named Maria, who lives in Russia. I wrote her a few words and also asked about her country. What a fantastic experience!

Few months have past and I am still crazy for Postcrossing, although I just did the project once. I often talks with my classmates about it and I surprisingly heard that some girls have sent a lot of postcards but received nothing. I was ashamed that I only have sent one postcard but fortunately received two, which are from Malaysia and Brazil. I felt so excited and happy when I received them!

I couldn’t imagine the day I started to write postcard.

Dates back to March, I was so surprised to know about this extraordinary project. It is said that you can get postcards all around the world, but randomly. I was really curious about this, so I wrote a postcard as soon as I got the ID.As the result of the first one, I made an effort to think about what I should write and sent it as I finished right away. I have looked forward to getting one postcard; however, one week passed, the mailbox was still empty. I thought I was too anxious about it, so I started to consider whether the postcard was sent successfully.

Fortunately, my first postcard arrived two weeks later. Take a look about it!

芝以’s Semester End Update(Postcrossing 2014)

After I got five addresses from the Postcrossing website, I bought many beautiful and funny postcards immediately. However, I didn’t write those postcards immediately because I spent much time choosing postcards for each receivers. I want the receivers will be as happy as me while they receive the postcard which matches their personality, interests, favorite things, and background, so it took me a lot of time.

Two weeks later, I finished writing the postcards, and asked my mother to send them for me because I didn’t have time to go to the post office to let the officers help me to send postcards by paying postage.(Those postcards were full of words so I can’t stick stamps on them.)

I have started "postcrossing" this activity about three month. During the three month, I received 12 cards! I can't wait to check the mailbox everyday. They were mailed from many countries like Nederland, Russia, Czech, Belarus etc.

March 28th, I received my first postcard from Germany. But I feel little disappointed cause there only have few words on it......

I usually write postcard in my free time. This is the first card I wrote. I sent it to Anna, a desigher from Russia.

I like postcrossing a lot.  It gives me the chance to know people from all over the world, and even make friends with them. Actually I have always wanted to have pen-pals, so I have been addicted to the program from the very beginning.

But I am afraid of writing, so it took me all day or even two days to finish a postcard because I was wavering in the content, and I  wanted to tell all the things in English in a little postcard. However, as I wrote more and more postcard, I realized that postcards are  very easy and free way to communicate, we don't have to be that serious and try to explain all the things in very detail. I'm vaquishing my fear of writing now, and I just tell the story of the postcard simply or share some music I like or share some little things in my life, so it takes less time for me to write a postcard, and I enjoy postcrossing more right now.

Some of the postcards I've sent:

Thanks to this project, people get a chance to know others from the opposite side of the world. Take me for example, through Postcrossing, I’ve sent and received postcards from other countries for the first time, which I’ve never dreamed of before. It’s an unforgettable experience. Up till now, I’ve received 12 postcards and sent 10, but one is still on its way to the USA.

120 days.

A long time passed, and I got a lot of difference in my life, too.

Whenever I got the postcard from my mailbox, I always think, "Thank you."

Whenever I'm so tired and helpless, those postcards always save me, give me a lot of supports.

I love all of them, and I've recorded them in my album.

Postcrossing(2014/6/23)

Before I wsa a member of postcrossing, I had never thought I would receive letters from someone that I didn’t know. However, I have joined postcrossing for more than three months. I’ ve sent seven postcards to foreigners and received eight other ones from all over the world. This activity actually added many unforgettable memories to my life.

In the beginning, I thought sent postcards was a trouble because it would take up my time, but when I sent the first one, I started to enjoy it. After that, I continue writing more postcards and liked waiting for other one’s reply. I was curious about what kinds of postcards I would get. I expected it everyday.

I always took delight in receiving postcards. I had a lot of academic pressure, but the postcards from other countries always could reduce my stress and comfort me. Furthermore, I also could learn grammer and vocabulary from them. Once, a Singaporean girl written a long word which was‘‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’’ in the letter and let me guess what it means. I searched the answer on the Internet and finally knew it means‘‘unbelievable’’. How interesting it was! Sometimes I thought the content of postcards were so funny and let me learn more things.

I was very lucky to learn the website of postcrossing. Because of it, my life was filled with expectation and fun. I could saw many beautiful pictures from evey colorful  postcard. I will continue to write more postcards in the future because this activity is so meaningful.

I received 19 postcards.

U.S.A.

16

I still remember that when I received this, I wrote the thanks message to her. But I made a big mistake- I misspelt her name. So I quickly wrote her again to say sorry by email. After that, I didn’t guess the name which spelt unclearly anymore.
