芝以’s Semester End Update(Postcrossing 2014)

After I got five addresses from the Postcrossing website, I bought many beautiful and funny postcards immediately. However, I didn’t write those postcards immediately because I spent much time choosing postcards for each receivers. I want the receivers will be as happy as me while they receive the postcard which matches their personality, interests, favorite things, and background, so it took me a lot of time.

        Two weeks later, I finished writing the postcards, and asked my mother to send them for me because I didn’t have time to go to the post office to let the officers help me to send postcards by paying postage.(Those postcards were full of words so I can’t stick stamps on them.)

        After my mother sent them, I was not only happy, but also worried. I was happy because I sent them smoothly. But I was also very worried because I didn’t know when the postcards will arrive in the correct destination. Luckily, they all arrived safely in two weeks. What’s more, one of the postcards I sent is a favorite. That is the one with a plate of stinky tofu that I sent to a German who likes delicious cuisines a lot. And the receiver left a message under the postcard’s picture I uploaded on the website, he said he really wanted to try it when he come to visit Taiwan. I was pretty delighted when I saw the messages because the messages from the receivers made me know that they like those postcards I sent.

        When I came back home from school in the drizzle with a tired body, I saw something in my mailbox, so I opened it. As I opened it, I saw the first postcard from a Postcrossing player. This postcard was very wonderful with cute paper tapes, pretty seals, and wonderful picture on its cover. This postcard cheered me up when I was very tired because it brought happiness to my life by those wonderful small things.

        And my favorite card is the one that I received three weeks ago. This postcard was sent from Janie who is a school teacher in Michigan in the USA. This postcard reminded me with my childhood by its cover. The postcard’s cover is a scene in a Disney’s movie: A Bug’s Life. A Bug’s Life is a story about ants help each other through a hard time. This movie is one of my favorite movies because the characters are as small and cute as I was , so when I saw the postcard, I was very surprised.

        Postcrossing is a project which I enjoyed a lot. It helps me learn how to share things, life, and love with others. I learned that while I have a happy day, I can share it with people; and while I see a person is in a bad mood, I can cheer him or her up. These things are really meaningful for me. What’s more, while I do this project, I enjoy the happy life every day because I always imagine those postcards receivers’ expression, and look forward to get postcards from other country.
