菜老師的英文教室

Grit Lab – Taiwan 是個以結合品格教育與英語語言教育為目標的非營利團體。團隊的發起者蔡惠文，目前現職蘭陽女中英文科教師並於國立台灣師範大學教育心理與輔導所博班課程進修中，她因著對品格教育、課程研究、英語文教學，以及科技融入教學的熱忱，希望透過全台熱血同好教師與研究人員的共同力量、能力與經驗，耕耘台灣的品格教育X語言教學，讓台灣的世代成為世界美好的影響力。

Lab的運作方式，簡單的說，其實就是一個大共備的概念，但更是一種「研教合一」的共備合作模式。配合108課綱開跑，各科老師需要研發各式課程，課綱的調整雖似乎應是教育該走的正確方向，但這革新無疑也為長期深陷於忙亂的第一線教學現場教師帶來更大的壓力。因此，Lab採取的「研教合一」合作模式即：Lab無償提供設計好的課程與材料給教師，教師在了解課程內容、教學目標以及授課方式等細節後，實施於任教課室中，課程結束後教師提供實際操作後的反饋與相關調整的心得，Lab依據反饋以及相關理論與研究進一步調整修正課程，並繼續提供給其他教師採用。

透過這樣的組織運作方式，第一線教師能有系統且具彈性的採用已研發完成的主題課程，如此一來，教師不僅可免去獨自研發課程的壓力，更能透過提供個人的實做反饋與心得，貢獻個人寶貴經驗給整個教學團隊；一個課程，透過Lab的彙整與研究，因著許多老師的實作經驗不斷做滾動式調整，讓課程能不斷精進，也讓教學研究與理論緊密結合教學實務工作。這是，真實的團隊合作：分工有效率，合作有效果！

    GUESSTURES is a board game which is suitable for everybody.

    After playing the game, we all think that this is a great game. Not only can we learn plenty of the Bible shrine but also verse. During the game, teammates should cooperate with each other within a short time in order to get the most points. Moreover, for the other group, it is a big test of explaining a word through body language. Therefore, it can help us to learn the Bible and improve our explaining skills. Besides, it is helpful for English learner, for it is much easier than other English board game.

    Sometimes, though you present well in front of the guesser, he or she still might not understand due to the lack of the knowledge of the Bible. Thus, you had better have basic knowledge before you play it.

        “GUESSTURES: Bible Edition” is a fun board game even for those who are not so familiar with Bible. Don’t worry if you are still a new learner to English since it contains words of varying levels of difficulty. Children and adults alike would find this game interesting. It’s a game which needs lots of gestures and body movements to help your partners get the words given, before the toaster-like machine EATS your cards. No speaking is allowed. One should depend on his/her imagination and good teamwork to figure out the words. As the timer runs, the intensifying excitement of the game will definitely keep you screaming and shouting, or at least, we all DID!

        However, frankly speaking, if you are looking forward to a “Bible-Learning Board game,” this one is not highly recommended. Though it is a “Bible Edition” board game, actually you can play it in a non-Bible way, which can hardly help you have a better learning in Bible.

        Therefore, “GUESSTURES: Bible Edition” is a fantastic game to spend your lousy rainy day, but be careful if you are a school teacher rather than a parent. Don’t set high expectations if you’re in want of an educational game!

Bible Board Game Reviews: Bible Taboo  

    The board game Bible Taboo is highly recommended by most of the customers in Amazon. Since the rule is rather simple for one to get familiar with it, it is an ideal game that people of all ages can have a great time. To start the game, participants would be divided into groups, and one of the team members would be chosen to pick up one card from the stack. On the top of each card, there is a certain word given. It could be names in Bible, but not so obscure that no one knows who they are. In that way, it’s no need to worry about lacking of adequate information to Bible. Below the certain word, taboo words are listed. To get one point against the opponents, the chosen member should avoid saying the taboo words when describing the certain word to team members. During the guess, time would be limited by an electronic buzzer. Counting down together adds spice to the game, making it more exciting. With the game, we can have a further understanding of Bible as well. While troublesome in describing, the taboo words are helpful in learning. We can get a general grasp about the related words and memorize the key information of each word. In addition, learning to describe a word in different ways is one of the benefits of the game. Viewing things from various aspects promotes our alternative thinking. In short, if you are searching for an interesting and educational board game, Bible Taboo is certainly the game of choice!

Learning Bible is a difficult process for new readers like us. However, if the action turns into a game, it will become interesting and more acceptable for us immediately.

We have had much fun in Biblebanz, a board game which consists of many word cards about Bible stories, it can increase our Bible knowledge and vocabularies. Players have to wear headbands with a word chosen from Bible on their foreheads, asking others questions which describe the words. Moreover, each player only has one minute to finish her round.

By this game, we can review what we have learned, and enhance our learning at the same time. In addition, we can train our listening and speaking skills. What’s more, even though we don’t know much about Bible, we can enjoy the game through discussing and explaining.

During playing Biblebanz, we found a lot of words we don’t know. Therefore, it motivates us to know more about Bible in order to keep playing it. Biblebanz does delight our interest in learning English and the religious culture of westerners. To sum up, it is such a good game for both Bible readers and English learners. We extremely recommend Biblebanz. Hope you enjoy it too!

This is the third Bible board game that we played, and it is more easily to play since we were not raised in the places rooted in Bible culture. As we are the Taiwanese students, we can learn more about important people and keywords in the Bible from this board game. We used to be confused by other Bible games like Cranium because it is too difficult for us, who had learned about the Bible for only a short time. What’s more, it is so hard for us that we could not even get an understanding to the rules. One of the advantages of “Bible Bingo Game” is that it has exquisite and vivid pictures. Also, there are elaborative and detailed explanations on the back of each card, making us curious about the chapters and verses involved in the Bible. Most important of all, as a bingo game, it is extremely exciting for players since it is the fate that decides whether you can win or not. If you are not that familiar with the Bible as we are, do not worry about that it is too much trouble for you to play such a game! It is the best Bible game we have ever played. We hope all of you would have fun with this board game!

  Among all the Bible board games, I like Bible Sequence the most. Since the rules are simple, everyone can be absorbed in the game easily. Though the rules are easy, the game is really fun since you have to try your best to get five tokens in a row. Also, you should find out some ways to block your opponents’ ways. The numbers of the tokens and the card are adequate. You will find it easy to get four tokens in a row. However, the fifth is the most difficult one, especially when everyone is trying their best to block others’ ways. The special ADD and REMOVE cards are also great design to increase the interest and the difficulty of the game. It is common that you get intercept just before the way to success. There are ‘TWO’ ADD and ‘TWO’ REMOVE cards, which is an important thing to remember. Though you remove one token of your opponents, thinking about the success in your hand, you might get block by the ADD card and learning that there is still a long way to success. Despite the interesting rules, you can learn more about the Bible with game squares related to famous Bible stories. With all the reasons above, I strongly recommend Bible Sequence as a game to play with families and friends of all generations.
